Even though this is mostly for groups like Alcoholics Anonymous, I find it still applicable when recovering from mental illness. If you come across the words alcohol, just substitute it for mental illness. I find reading this empowering.
My dream is to be married (to a wonderful man) and have kids. Till then, I do want to get a better handle of my illness; after all, I just barely found out about it. Did you know about 54% of women who have postpartum depression already had depression before or during their pregnancy? This why I want to get a better handle of it now. The link below discusses how mental illness affects women’s health. Check out the link below for more information:
I almost forgot to pay my bills. It was due to my illness last week. Also due to that illness, my room has been pretty messy. So, I used today to clean it up. It’s so distressing going through the symptoms of depression and anxiety. When I get anxious, I blank out and when I get depressed, my world gets darkened. Oy. Well, thankfully Wellbutrin has really helped me get back on my feet. I have been able to clean my house, study better, tend to my garden, drive better and even remember to pay bills. The medication is helping me deal the physiological parts of my illness. I am not saying I still won’t have symptoms, but it’ll be better managed.
I am grateful for the Affordable Care Act. If it wasn’t for that Act, I would have never been able to diagnosis my illness and get treatment for it. Here is a diagram on how the Affordable Care Act a.k.a. Obamacare helped people like me get the treatment we deserve.
