  1. Coming from a Caribbean background they frown on depression. To them you’re just sad and need to pray since you have nothing to be “sad” about since you have your health and roof over your head…. so you just smile till they leave you alone.

    • I totally understand. I am from a Nigerian background and relief from depression too is “achieved” through prayer and/or through appreciation your life. I STILL pray and do appreciation of my life, but that alone will not help me. In addition to medication and therapy I have been doing well! So seek understanding and treatment for yourself!
