  1. It is difficult to hit “like” for these memes – but I want to indicate appreciation for the fact that you have posted them. Thank you. I have pinned several to my Mental Health Awareness Board — and will link to at least one when I write my own Suicide Prevention Month post.

    • Yeah, I totally understand that! That’s great that you are posting them on your site! And thank you! 😀 Suicide is a difficult topic for anyone to talk about, but people have to learn how identify its symptoms so they can rescue their loved ones from their dispair

      • Yes – and so that those who were unable to do so can begin to understand, heal, forgive themselves and move on with their lives.

Suicide and mental illness are things many people find difficult to acknowledge, but if we keep sweeping them under the rug, things will continue to worsen and people will continue to take their own lives.

Mental illness stigma, however it appears, must stop. We can all start there – by calling it out as what it is – every single time we see it or witness it anywhere. Whether the person attempting to perpetrate stigma is someone we love or a total stranger, and even if they don’t want to hear WHY it is harmful and wrong-headed, I believe it is important for people to hear those of us who believe that stigma is a large part of the problem, and that it is cruel.

We can all do that much to change the mental health landscape. Who knows? Maybe someone who witnesses our censure will be one who thought nobody cared, and it will stay their hand one more day.

Thank you for your response – and for your post.
